Second Lunenburg Landfill Fall Fest A Success
BBQ, Games, and a Giant Pumpkin Make Lunenburg Landfill Fall Fun Fest
A Smashing Success
Meridian Waste and its Lunenburg Landfill at 45 Landfill Road, celebrated the second Fall Fun Fest on Saturday, October 29, with 170 members of the community.
The Lunenburg Landfill Fall Fun Fest was the second event of its kind, providing a free lunch, inflatable games, a bounce house, and pumpkin and face painting for the community.
“We are so pleased that many of our friends and neighbors came out to enjoy a beautiful, sunny October day, with games, Truck-or-Treating, and a BBQ,” said General Manager Joe Gustaf. “It was our pleasure to host this event for the community and to show off our clean and green disposal facility. We featured narrated hayride tours emphasizing the many steps the company takes to protect and enhance the natural environment, “ said Gustaf.
In addition to meeting and exceeding state and federal environmental regulations, the Lunenburg Landfill has broken ground on a gas-to-clean-energy program converting landfill gasses and processing them into usable energy to power vehicles and homes as renewable natural gas. The clean energy project is expected to be completed in Fall 2023.
A HUGE thanks to Karen Streat for planning, organizing, and decorating this fantastic community event! Three Cheers for Karen!
