Lunenburg Landfill presented a $50,000 donation to local fire and rescue organizations. Victoria Fire and Rescue, Kenbridge Fire Department, and Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue each received funding to help keep the local communities safe.

“As a vital part of Lunenburg County’s environmental infrastructure, both CFS’ Lunenburg Landfill and our hauling operations are committed to responsibly managing the disposal needs of citizens, businesses and governments in the area,” said Rob Guidry, area president for CFS. “We are dedicated to the communities we serve and are proud to support the first responders who work tirelessly to keep us and our communities safe.”

Victoria Fire and Rescue, located in Lunenburg County, Va., provides fire, EMS, and a class III radio communications cache for region 3.

Meherrin Volunteer Fire and Rescue is a 24/7 full service public safety agency providing fire suppression, rescue/extrication services, public education, fire prevention, and both Basic & Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Service in both Lunenburg and Prince Edward Counties.

Kenbridge Volunteer Fire Department is a volunteer organization located in the South NFPA region and headquartered in Kenbridge, Va. The department’s volunteers protect the population of 1,250 throughout the Town’s 2.31 square miles.

Container First Services Disposal and Recycling Services of Lunenburg, located at 45 Landfill Rd., provides a vital infrastructure to Lunenburg County and the state of Virginia as well as other benefits including annual property tax payments and an annual $50,000 donation to county organizations through the Board of Supervisors. These monies are used in areas that affect as many citizens as possible with an emphasis on education, law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services. In addition, 11 of the landfill employees live and work in Lunenburg County.
