Meridian Waste Jacksonville Hiring Event Produces Success on the Westside

Jacksonville, FL - August 28, 2023 - Meridian Waste Florida LLC, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, held a team member hiring event at its hauling operations facility located at 2078 Lane Avenue North in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, August 26 with 122 candidates for commercial driver's license (CDL) drivers, helpers, mechanics, and dispatch positions. The hiring day helped to staff the company’s City of Jacksonville Area I residential solid waste contract. The Area I contract includes approximately 76,044 residential units located west of the St. Johns River from the southern border of Duval County adjoining Clay County to the western border of Duval County adjoining Baker and Nassau counties to the centerline of New Kings Road in Duval County. Meridian Waste’s operation of the Area I contract begins October 1. 

The job fair featured one-stop hiring activities including onsite background checks and drug testing of all new potential hires to ensure the safety of customers and in compliance with City of Jacksonville contract requirements. Team members considered for hiring included CDL drivers, helpers, dispatchers, and mechanics with final employment offers pending clean background checks and drug testing results. The new prospective hires, in addition to those who applied for jobs prior to August 26, are required to meet the company’s hiring criteria and the City’s required number of positions.
