CONTAINER FIRST SERVICES DONATES $50,000 TO LUNENBURG COUNTY

Donations Help to Make Vital Upgrades for Lunenburg County Safety and Education

RICHMOND, Va. (November 14, 2019) – Container First Services (CFS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, presented their annual donations to the Lunenburg County community to multiple safety and educational entities in a ceremony at the courthouse.

CFS has donated $50,000 to multiple entities throughout Lunenburg County as part of their annual donation. With the recommendation of the Lunenburg Board of Supervisors, recipients include:

  • The Lunenburg Sheriffs Department - $20,000

  • The Victoria Police Department - $10,000

  • The Kenbridge Police Department - $10,000

  • The Lunenburg Library Association - $10,000

“Services such as law enforcement and libraries benefit each and every citizen of Lunenburg now, and for years to come,” said CFS Area President Rob Guidry. “This donation has been part of our company culture for seven years, and we’ve donated $300,000 back into the Lunenburg County community – a commitment of which we are very proud.”

These donations will help upgrade technology and education programs, staff development, and equipment for each entity.

Container First Services Disposal and Recycling Services of Lunenburg, located at 45 Landfill Rd., provides vital infrastructure solid waste disposal services to Lunenburg County and the Commonwealth of Virginia. CFS also provides other benefits including free residential and school system disposal, annual property tax payments, a per ton host fee and these annual donations to county organizations committed to the County and beneficiaries since CFS assumed ownership of the landfill in 2013. These donated monies are used in areas that affect as many citizens as possible with an emphasis on education, law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services. In addition, many of the landfill employees live and work in Lunenburg County.
