Meridian Waste Acquisitions, LLC was pleased to host more than 300 guests on Saturday, April 20, during its first-ever Greenest Show on Earth event.  Carnival-themed activities were held adjacent to the Shotwell Construction & Demolition Debris (C&D) Landfill, and served as an Earth Day celebration about the natural environment and great outdoors.  A free lunch, popcorn, and cotton candy was shared with the guests along with inflatable games, slides, and obstacle courses, a bubble station, field games, a natural materials bird feeder building station, and an Earth Day information booth. Additional activities included an Ask the Gardener booth featuring Rufus Edmisten and Mike Rawley from the Weekend Gardener Radio Show, signature Touch-A-Truck field, and hayride landfill tours of the disposal facility which is home to Wake County’s first state-of-the-art C&D materials recovery facility (MRF) scheduled to be opened this year.

Meridian Waste focuses significant attention on Earth Day to highlight the work its team members do every day to keep local communities clean and green.  Solid waste management, from safe and efficient commercial, industrial, and residential collections to environmentally-sound final processing and disposal is a vital part of the company’s work.  Team members are proud of their efforts so customers can enjoy the benefits of the Wendell -based business, their local neighborhoods, and the natural environment.  Giving a helping hand to Mother Nature through Meridian Waste’s direct efforts and Earth Day information and activities served as a benefit for all attendees.

“Hosting our neighbors at Shotwell Environmental Park with this eco-friendly and family event is Meridian Waste’s way to say thank you,” said Patrick Messinger, Area President in North Carolina.  “Our team members truly enjoyed meeting everyone and providing them with a day of fun, food, and especially, great information about how to be good stewards of the environment.”

Shotwell Environmental Park’s next free community event will be its Splash Bash on Saturday, August 17 from 10am until 2pm at 4624 Smithfield Road in Wendell, NC.
