Bowling Green, MO (October 6, 2025) – – Meridian Waste Missouri, LLC, a provider of non-hazardous solid waste services, welcomed more than 650 guests to its annual Fall Harvest Family Fun Fest on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at its Eagle Ridge Landfill - doubling the attendance of previous years and marking the event’s most successful turnout yet.

The free community event, held each October, invites neighbors, families, and local non-profit organizations to enjoy a day outdoors while learning about the essential role modern, well-managed landfills play in protecting public health and the environment.  Each year, the landfill’s team of dedicated environmental professionals works hard to make the site welcoming not only for disposal customers but also for our special guests—many of whom are visiting a municipal solid waste landfill for the first time.

Guests enjoyed a wide range of activities including a corn maze, tractor-pulled hayride and landfill tour, touch-a-truck lineup, bounce house, face painting, balloon twisting, and creative crafts such as pumpkin painting and scarecrow building. Families also captured memories at the photo booth, and the always-popular Bubble Bus returned—filling the air with music and bubbles—thanks to the generous sponsorship of Vision RNG, the site’s renewable natural gas and clean energy partner.

A grilled lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs was served to all guests, volunteers, and organizers, followed by truck-or-treating and Happy Apple Treats to top off the festivities with a sweet finish.

“It’s so important to open our gates and welcome our neighbors into the landfill,” said Barbie Russo, Director of Government & Community Affairs for Meridian Waste. “Events like the Fall Harvest Family Fun Fest give us a chance to show how modern landfills are not just waste disposal sites—they’re vital environmental protection systems. By managing waste safely, we help keep our communities clean, our air and water protected, and our environment sustainable for future generations.”
