On September 25, 2025, Meridian Waste brought more than just garbage trucks to the spotlight—they brought smiles, education, and a sense of purpose. At a community event focused on showcasing the work of essential workers, Meridian Waste added a unique and engaging element: the "Trash Cart Little Pitch."

The Trash Cart Little Pitch was more than just a fun name. It was an interactive segment designed to engage young minds and introduce students to the world of waste management in a fun, relatable way. Children had the opportunity to interact with real trash carts, learn how waste is properly sorted, and even participate in a mini "trash toss" challenge to test their recycling skills.

Representing Meridian Waste at the event was Site Manager Craig Boswell, who engaged with students throughout the day. Boswell emphasized the importance of community outreach and the essential role of sanitation services in everyday life. “This event is all about showing kids how many different jobs it takes to keep a community functioning—and how each one, from a lineman to a sanitation worker, plays a vital role,” Boswell said. “The Trash Cart Little Pitch was our way of making that message fun and memorable.”

With linemen demonstrating their climbing gear and power tools in one area, Meridian Waste’s team balanced the heavy-duty energy with a lighthearted, educational approach. Staff members used the opportunity to talk about how waste removal is an essential service that keep communities running safely and smoothly.

The pitch attracted dozens of children throughout the day, serving as a reminder that meaningful education often begins with hands-on experiences. From throwing mock trash into carts to learning about recycling symbols, students left with smiles—and a new appreciation for the hardworking people behind the scenes.

By participating in the event, Meridian Waste not only highlighted its commitment to clean and sustainable communities but also demonstrated the power of outreach, education, and yes—even a trash cart or two—to make a lasting impact.
