Lower Appomattox River Clean-Up Day

Friends of Lower Appomattox River share pictures and a BIG thank you to Meridian Waste - Petersburg, VA Hauling for sponsoring their April 15th Clean up Event with the donation of roll off containers for the containment and removal of litter and debris collected form the clean up.

"We had a great River Clean-Up on Saturday! Thank you so much for delivering and picking up the trash containers!!!

Between our three sites in Hopewell, Colonial Heights, and Dinwiddie, we had 52 total attendees including participants from Perdue, Gerdau, First Command & Fort Lee, and Virginia Master Naturalists - and we accomplished so much:

Removed 59 bags of trash

Freed 18 trees from invasive English ivy

Removed 4 stands of invasive Privet bushes (45 plants)

We saw first-hand lots of wildlife that will benefit from our efforts—we want to say a huge THANK YOU on their behalf, too!
