Meridian Waste Sponsors Lauderdale County Community Clean-Up Day with West Lauderdale High School Students

Nearly 200 Students and Community Volunteers to Participate in Roadway Clean-Up Effort

MERIDIAN, MISS., March 16, 2026 — Meridian Waste Mississippi, LLC (Meridian Waste), a non-hazardous, integrated solid waste services company, is proud to sponsor the Lauderdale County Community Clean-Up Day in partnership with students from West Lauderdale High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.

Approximately 200 participants, including 175 students and local volunteers, will take part in the community clean-up effort around West Lauderdale High School and the surrounding roadways between the Collinsville four-way stop and the school campus. The initiative brings together students, local officials, and Meridian Waste employees to support environmental stewardship and help maintain clean roadways throughout Lauderdale County.  The cleanup will take place between 8:15am - 3pm CDT and will be staggered with students and volunteers so that students don’t miss the full school day.

Students participating in the West Lauderdale High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program will gain hands-on experience in community service and environmental responsibility while working alongside county leaders and industry professionals.

“Community partnerships like this are an important way to engage students and support a cleaner environment,” stated Jimmie Moore, Meridian Waste’s Director of Governmental Affairs for Mississippi. “We’re proud to work with Lauderdale County and West Lauderdale High School to encourage students to take pride in keeping their community clean.”

Lauderdale County officials Daniel Mabry, Solid Waste Code Enforcement Officer, and Rush Mayatt, Road Manager for Lauderdale County, helped organize the clean-up initiative. County Supervisor Josh Todd, along with Lauderdale County personnel and Meridian Waste employees, will also participate in the event.

Meridian Waste and Lauderdale County officials encourage drivers to use caution when traveling in the area during the cleanup and to remain alert for students and volunteers working along roadways.

Following the clean-up activities on March 18, Meridian Waste will host a recognition lunch for participating students and volunteers on March 19 at West Lauderdale High School. The company will also provide bottled water for volunteers during the clean-up.

Photos and highlights from the event will be shared across social media to celebrate the students’ efforts and the partnership between Lauderdale County, West Lauderdale High School, and Meridian Waste.
