To help contain litter, please bag waste before placing it in the cart.

Recycling

Container: 96-gallon Meridian Waste cart

Frequency: Collected every other week

Instructions:

All recyclable materials must be INSIDE the cart, except for bundled newspapers or corrugated cardboard, which may be placed next to the cart.

Please DO NOT bag recyclables (plastic bags ruin the recycling process of other materials).

Bulk Waste Pickup

Frequency: Collection will be provided by the town on the third Wednesday of the month. To schedule a pick-up, call (434) 447-3191.

Materials Accepted: Large items such as furniture, mattresses, large household furnishings, refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, freezers, and dryers.

Weight Limits: Safe for 2 people to pick up

Items associated with construction, remodeling, demolition, and trimmings, as well as items designated as hazardous waste by State agencies are NOT accepted.

Lithium-ion batteries (the kind in cell phones, laptops, tablets) easily catch fire or explode when crushed, even if they're “dead”!

NEVER put them in the Garbage OR Recycling.

How to Place Carts Curbside

Close cart lid, point handle away from street, place on edge of street. Keep cart 3 feet away from all objects.
